WBLC Junior OztagWest Belconnen Leagues Club has commenced the inaugural Junior Oztag comp for the 2007-08 summer season. We have taken this upon ourselves to start this competition as we see the need for children and young teenagers to continue with some sporting activity throughout the summer months, but most importantly we are looking to encourage some new juniors to sport itself. West Belconnen Leagues Club has always had the belief that we must nurture and encourage the involvement within junior sport and we see that the commencement of junior oztag in the north Canberra area will assist in taking this belief one step further, as we will be able to place proceeds from the competition back into junior sport. Oztag is very similar to Rugby League; however, instead of players being tackled, a tackle is affected when a strip of cloth attached by Velcro, known as a “Tag” is removed from the side of the player’s shorts. Junior Competition will be open to age groups - 8's 10's 12's 14's & 16's. With all age groups being run as a mixed competition, it is a great non-contact sport for both Girls & Boys aged between the ages of 7-16. If you cannot form a team but would still like to participate, you can register individually and we will place you in a team. The games are played on a Wednesday night on the Main Oval of West Belconnen Leagues Club Hardwick Cres Holt. |
