Do I have to be a member to book a function?
It is a requirement that the function organiser is a financial member of West Belconnen Leagues Club.
Can I make a tenatative booking?
Yes, tentative bookings will be held for a period of fourteen (14) days.
Am I required to pay a security deposit?
A security deposit of $250.00 is required to confirm a function booking. Room hire fees will be deducted from this deposit and the refundable portion of the deposit will be processed the working week following the function where it is determined that no undue damage to Club property is incurred.
Do I receive a refund of the security deposit if I cancel my booking?
The security deposit will be fully refunded if thirty (30) days notice is given. If less than 30 days notice is given, the security deposit will be refunded provided the venue is re-booked. Where the room is not re-booked a service fee of 50% of the security deposit will be deducted.
Do members incur a room hire fee?
Yes, all hirers pay a room hire fee. Room hire charges cover costs for labour during setup, bar & tray service, plus associated cleaning costs.
Present room hire fees stand at $100 for the Lindrum or Messenger Rooms, $150 for the Hopman Room or a combination of the Lindrum/Messenger Rooms and $250 for a combination of the Messenger/Hopman Rooms.
Hire of the complete Function Centre (Lindrum/Messenger/Hopman Rooms) incurs a fee of $300.
Can we arrange outside catering or cater ourselves?
No, Club policy does not permit food or beverage to brought onto the Clubs premises (Birthday & Wedding cakes excluded).
Does the Club offer a variety of menu options?
West Belconnen Leagues Club Catering department offers a vast range of menu options including cocktail party, a la carte and buffet menus. They are also more than happy to design a menu to suit your requirements and/or budget.
Will the Function Bar be open during our function?
The function bar will operate where guest numbers are equal too or exceed fifty (50).
Does the Club host under 18 birthday parties?
Club policy is such that under 18 birthday parties are not facilitated due to the fact that control of under age drinking is not possible.
On hiring a function room, what time does the function have to cease?
Function bar will remain open until such time that the manning of same is no longer feasable. The hirer may continue to utilise the room until half hour before closing or unless other circumstances arise.
What kind of circumstance would result in an early closure of a function?
Circumstances include:
Fire
Robbery
Unruly behaviour
Under age drinking
Other circumstances as determined by the Duty Manager taking into consideration the safety of members, their guests and club staff.
Management decisions are final.
Will the Club organise entertainment for my function?
The Club does not directly organise entertainment (such as DJ's and Jukeboxes) but we are more than happy to help you find something to suit.
Can we decorate the room?
Decorations are permitted but are restricted to those items which do not require attachment to walls or ceiling.
When do I have to confirm numbers for Catering?
Confirmed numbers are required seven (7) days prior to your function. This number will be the minimum number that you'll be invoiced for.
When is payment due for catering & beverages?
Payment for catering is due seven (7) days prior to your function unless other arrangements have been made with the Functions & Events Coordinator. Payment of a Dry till is due at the completion of your function.
